Are you ready, kids? Meet Mr. Jesse Kalitta! He was a student teacher at Coleman last year, and was hired this year as a part-time Jr/Sr High Teacher and as a Jr/Sr High Interventionist. He is excited to officially be a part of the district and can’t wait to see what this school year will have in store.
Why did you decide to become a teacher?
“I came to a crossroads in college where I actually had to figure out what I was going to do with my life. I took some time to reflect on the most meaningful experiences in my life thus far and kept coming back to work I'd done that was directly related to education. I realized being a teacher was my calling.”
What’s your secret talent?
“I like to build and work on computers, and I haven't destroyed one doing so . . . yet.”
What do you do in your free time?
“I like staying active; especially running. I really enjoy gardening/landscaping both on land and underwater. I spend too much time on the computer, and while a lot of it is work-related, I enjoy a good strategy game. I like watching sports, but college basketball is my favorite (behind Comet sports obviously.) In a sense, these all boil down to appreciating beautiful things.”
What’s something you’re learning about right now?
“I'm trying to learn about photography, chess, and the workings of Tolkien's universe at the moment.”
What adjectives would you use to describe yourself?
“Busy, curious, enthusiastic.”
Favorite movie?
“Gattaca/Lord of the Rings.” (I did not ask him this question, he just wanted everyone to know he's a huge Lord of the Rings fan)
