All Fall sports, including contact and indoor sports were approved to move ahead, according to MHSAA and MSAC guidance, during a Special Board of Education Meeting on Monday evening, Sept. 14th.
Students (with parent signature if a minor), coaches and typically assigned volunteers MUST sign a waiver in order to participate. Volleyball athletes will need to have this submitted no later than this Thursday, Sept. 17th, in order to participate that evening; volleyball athletes will be able to participate in the first match on Sept. 15th- we are giving them a couple of days to turn everything in. All fall sports athletes, coaches and volunteers will need to submit this waiver by this Thursday, Sept. 15th as well. Mr. Mammel will get those to coaches or you can get them from Mrs. Bell/Mr. Mammel at the Athletic Office or on our website under Coleman Jr./Sr. High School/Explore/Documents/Athletics https://www.colemanschools.net...
In addition to the waivers, students will be required to follow all protocol from MHSAA & MSAC. These protocols are listed on the same page.
As part of the guidance, each participant may only have 2 spectators at each event. Those names will need to be given to coaches/AD 24 hours in advance for home and away events. We thank the community in advance for ensuring this limit is only the 2 assigned. Lining up at the end of the football field/outside the fences increases the number of spectators at each event in total and under the current orders is NOT allowed. Game/event will be stopped to ask for compliance and if spectators do not comply, the team may forfeit the event. Please support our students by only attending if you are on the list. Spectators will need exact change and change will not be made; concessions will not be open. All spectators must wear masks and sit on the "Xs" pre-marked on seats with only those from households sitting together in order to ensure social distancing. Spectator expectations are at the above link as well and will be posted across the district.
We are excited that even though not everyone can be there, we are working on ways to LiveStream the stadium and gymnasium events out to the community whenever possible; Cross Country is a bit more difficult so send those pictures to pr@colemanschools.net so we can recognize those students as well . The first Volleyball match is tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 15th and a LiveStream link will be posted out around noon today.
A copy of the waiver, protocol and spectator expectations will be sent home with each student athlete this week.
We're all very excited to be able to see our students run cross country, cheer and play volleyball and football this year. Our students and coaches have worked through ups and downs, showed perseverance and dedication while abiding by all the rules and guidelines thrown at them. Please encourage them to continue doing so by showing them we are all in this together.
And most importantly- GO COMETS!! #CometPride #athletics #growingforthefuture #community #Coleman
