Kindergarten had a bunch of different fall-themed areas to discover: Exploring pumpkins, measuring pumpkins, pumpkin creations with apple stamps, and hammering tees into pumpkins. 🎃

The Ag Program recently got a nice shout-out from a Midland High student's parent!
"Hi, Just wanted to say thank you for supporting the Ag program! My daughter attended the national FFA convention last week and got to meet with all 3 colleges she was considering for Ag Business. It is VERY cool that she can attend her home school - Midland High- and still do the things she is interested in with the Ag program. Your Ag teachers are amazing and really great at what they do. Thanks!!"
This unique program is open to all Midland County 10th - 12th graders, including homeschool students! https://www.colemanschools.net/page/agriscience

Ms. Boulis' 5th graders participated in a water cycle activity with a member of the Chippewa Nature Center. They worked together to get "water" to flow, did an activity to show the different ways water can travel, and created posters of the water cycle.

Next week, we celebrate kindness District wide! Our Youth Leadership kids have planned activities throughout the week in both buildings. Check out what to expect.

The band performed their annual Halloween concert (sorry, a little late in sharing!) for the elementary students, complete with iconic tunes such as: "Ghostbusters," "Scary Had A Little Lamb," and "Revenge of the Dust Bunnies." Drum Major Kapre Lynch even took a turn conducting! #LEADLikeAComet

TOMORROW MORNING is Booksgiving! K - 2nd grade families, come read with us and receive some free books during breakfast time. We hope to see you there! 📚

Last week, Chef Jacob Moore invited Mr. Dave Urlaub, President of the State SkillsUSA, and Chef Andy Bacigalupo to Culinary at the Depot. They discussed how SkillsUSA works including leadership building, Culinary Arts certifications, competitions both State and National, and presentation/public speaking skills. SkillsUSA is an in-class curriculum that allows students to build skills before graduation with the potential to become a national champion. If you are familiar with Ag, think FFA but for Culinary Arts. Coleman Culinary students, including students from Bullock Creek, Coleman, Dow High, Meridian and Midland High are being immersed in the SkillsUSA and ProStart curriculums, so watch out to see what they accomplish! https://www.colemanschools.net/page/culinary-arts-program #LEADLikeAComet #ColemanCometPride

Kindergarteners recently practiced some scientific reactions using baking soda and vinegar to make a volcano! 🌋 Looks like fun!

Leadership Night: November 21!

Mrs. Whittington's class took a lovely fall trip to Chippewa Nature Center, too! Even our youngest Comets love outdoor education and natural science! 🍂

2nd grade took some time to prioritize outdoor education recently! They studied types of trees and leaves and enjoyed the much nicer-than-normal fall weather. 🍂

Check out the Senior Cookout at Mrs. Shumaker's! Julia and Acim, our foreign exchange students, had never roasted marshmallows before so we introduced them to this American tradition. Mr. Burkhart came and played music for the kids. We also had hamburgers/hot dogs on the grill and some great desserts.

Culinary students working hard making donuts and fried pickles. Yum! 🍩🥒
