In Mrs. Shumaker's class, the freshmen did a Character Cube project on the characters from To Kill a Mockingbird. Each side of the cube tells something about the character and what they did in the story. Then they were hung from the ceiling so that all the class could see them! Great job 9th grade!

Coleman Schools will have a 2-hour delay today, Monday, December 16th due to a few icy roads and fog, which should improve a little later this morning. Buses will still run to the ESA for those students in ESA programs. 1st and 2nd hour English and Social Studies exams at the Jr/Sr High will begin tomorrow. Exams will be held for English and Social Studies starting with 3rd hour today. Ag and Culinary at Coleman for the morning are not running due to the delay and students going to other CTE programs for the morning will not have bussing but may drive themselves if they wish. I have heard from some people that the voice message that went out was blank; my apologies for that. A text and email were sent to help with that. Again, sorry for the disruption.

Our fantastic Jr/Sr High Secretaries- Mrs. Bell (who hasn't learned yet how to retire and is helping train our newest team member- lucky us!), Mrs. Sian (who is not allowed to ever retire), Mrs. Porter (who is always smiling and splits her time between buildings) and Mr. Willard (Athletic Dept. secretary who has been a perfect addition and fits right in with this crew and is great to our kids). Happy Holidays everybody!

Ms. Lea served 175 cups of hot cocoa at lunch during kindness week! Students said something nice to the person in front of them and behind them so they were always giving and getting kind words said to them while they waited to get a cup of cocoa. How cozy! ☕

STUDENTS- since I know you're awake now that you don't have to go to school ;o) spend your time on something productive. I could use some new memes or a quick video to share on ice, snow or severe cold days and I know YOU are great at making them. Parents can help, too. Keep them school/community appropriate, send them to jmccormack@colemanschools.net and yours might be used on the next Act of God Day. Include your name(s) so I can give you credit. Bonus points if it makes me laugh out loud! Let's have a little fun with it. - Mrs. McCormack

Spanish 2 students studied Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), earlier this month! It is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd annually in Mexico. Students researched the celebration in the weeks leading up to it and created an ofrenda in the high school showcase. An ofrenda is an offering/altar prepared to honor and celebrate the lives of those loved ones who have passed on. It often includes water, salt, pan de muerto, marigolds, candles, and things our loved ones enjoyed during their lives. It is believed that Día de Muertos is the one night per year that our loved ones can come back to visit (like in the movie Coco!). Thanks for all the hard work you put into this project, Comets!

High School Art Class recently finished their Elements of Art projects! Students explored the seven elements (line, shape, color, form and value) where they picked one cohesive image that was divided into seven sections to illustrate the seven elements. Students now understand that the elements of art are the basic components that artists use to create visual compositions. Now our high school students understand how to analyze and appreciate art by identifying and describing how artists use these elements to express themselves through different techniques and stylization. Here's just a few of the students' projects. So beautiful and interesting to look at!
