A big welcome to one of our newest additions to the Comet family, Ms. Holly Wentworth! If you think she looks familiar, she is! She was a student teacher with us last semester and is now officially a teacher at the Jr/Sr High School. I asked her a few interview questions so we could get to know her better!
Why did you decide to become a teacher?
One of my high school teachers made a big difference in my life. She was supportive of my love of writing and always took the time to read my stories and poetry, but she was surprised that I didn’t enjoy reading at all. She was determined! She took the time to help me find books that she thought I would enjoy, and now reading is one of my favorite hobbies! I want to support and guide students in a similar way in my role here at Coleman Schools.
What drew you to this opportunity?
I was randomly placed here as a student teacher last semester, but it didn’t take long before I knew I wanted to stay. It was immediately apparent to me that the needs of the students are the number one priority for this school district by the passionate way the principal spoke during our professional development meetings. Additionally, the relationships between the teachers here is like a family!
What’s something you’re learning about right now?
I’m learning about how to be a good dog mom to my new pug, Goober! I’m learning about how difficult it is to balance life and work.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love reading (my favorite genres are romance and horror), writing (mainly poetry), journaling, and listening to music (all kinds!)
What adjectives would you use to describe yourself?
Optimistic, determined, and open-minded
