Friday turned out to be a pretty fun day! Alongside our annual staff vs. students volleyball game fundraiser to benefit the current 8th grade class, our Student Lighthouse Team suggested we throw in a whole-school Rock, Paper, Scissors competition into the mix!
The Student Lighthouse Team is our student leadership team through our Leader in Me initiative. They are made up of 2 students at each grade level, identified by staff and students to be leaders. At a recent Lighthouse Leaders meeting, they identified they would like to have some more fun activities to build student and staff morale and to celebrate the end of our testing week.
This is how it worked: everyone started out with a bead necklace at the beginning of the day. If you won a game of rock, paper, scissors, you won ALL of your opponent's beads! The students and staff with the most beads at the end of the day got to compete in the championship.
KEEP SCROLLING TO SEE WHO WON AND FOR VOLLEYBALL GAME PICTURES!
Of course, rules were strict: no rock, paper, scissors during class! Students were allowed to challenge others (including staff members!) during their hallway passing time between classes and at lunch and recess.
Our Jr. High winner was Will Coe, and our High School winner was Josie Balliet! (pictured below taking down Mr. Klopf). Mrs. Robison won for the staff.
With the conclusion of the Rock, Papers, Scissors competition, the Student vs. Staff Volleyball game began! With an entry fee of $1, this annual event gives the incoming freshmen a start to their class account as they start high school next year.
The winning team was Son of Chow, pictured below. Great job, boys!
We're glad to offer our students a chance to have fun once in a while! It's so important to help keep us together as Comets, build a culture of good sportsmanship, and to blow off steam in a positive way. Looking forward to next year!
