Thanks to our awesome pledge leaders for starting the board meeting tonight! Miss Addison and Mr. Hunter recited the pledge of allegiance for us very nicely. Thanks for being awesome leaders in your class and for letting us enjoy your company tonight!

The last week of September was Midland County’s Neighboring Week -- and our elementary students celebrated it! They discussed their neighborhoods and how they can be kind neighbors. Then, they decorated a house to add to our school neighborhood bulletin board. Even Deputy Hodges joined in on the fun!

Coleman Elementary got a new little Free Library this summer! Located at the front of the building near the office, students may take a book for themselves, or leave a book for others. It is free for everyone, not just elementary students or families. What a nice new addition!
Next Monday, August 21st, we are hosting our annual school open houses! Come get your schedule, try out your locker combination, meet your teachers, find your classroom, peruse the tables of all the visiting organizations, and enjoy a complimentary hot dog dinner! The elementary school's is from 5:30-6:30, and the high school's is from 6-7 Monday evening. See you there!

Six fifth grade students were nominated by their teachers to
participate in the Possible Dream program that is sponsored by Delta
College. On June 15, 2023, the following students were inducted into the
program during a ceremony at Delta: Hunter Clark, Ethan Colvin, Elizabeth
Drews, Chase MacDonald (pictured here with Mrs. LeFevre), Arianna Rooks, and Riley Tidwell.
The Possible Dream Program encourages students to reach their
highest potential, with priority consideration for a Delta College scholarship
when they graduate. Students are provided cultural and educational
opportunities that broaden their horizons. Students are exposed to college
life and are given the opportunity to explore higher education.
The ultimate goal for all Possible Dream participants is to graduate
from high school and then go on to college. That is made possible by
special scholarships to those who attend Delta College.
The Possible Dream Program has made a significant impact on
thousands of children by giving them a reason to believe in their dreams.
Delta College has confirmed that 70% of graduating Possible Dream
students have gone on to college.
All activities are free to Possible Dream Program participants. The
Possible Dream Program is fully funded by the generosity of sponsors and
attendees of “A Chocolate Affair,” the annual fundraising event.
Students in grades 5, 6, and 7 are selected from schools in Bay,
Midland, and Saginaw counties. Over 2,300 students have been a part of
the program since its inception in 1992.
The Coleman Elementary PTO meeting scheduled for tonight has been CANCELED. See you next time!

Mrs. LeFevre's fifth graders investigated ways to launch an egg and without breaking it. Katie from Chippewa Nature Center created this lesson as a fun time for her last visit of the school year. There was lots of laughter and a big mess when the eggs broke - a fun time for all!
Last week, led by Mrs. Lagalo, the elementary students spent time practicing positive self affirmations. They made self portraits with affirmations, shared homemade affirmation cards with others, and made an Affirmation Board to be enjoyed by all. They did a great job showing love and care for themselves and others.
2nd grader Arrayah was our awesome Pledge Leader at the Board Meeting tonight! This was her second time leading the pledge, and she did an excellent job getting the meeting started. Thanks for helping us out tonight, Arrayah!
