Kindergarteners worked on "name puzzles," sounding out each letter to spell their name. Great job, kiddos! #GrowingForTheFuture

Mr. Liechty’s class started putting hands on the new Comet Habit tree! It looks great!!! #CultivatingCometConnections

More pictures of the 3rd graders working with Mr. Frisbee! They learned about animal classifications and got to go to 10 different stations to learn about different types of animals. There was a different activity to go with each one. Looks like they're having a blast!

On Count Day, Mrs. Shoultes and Mr. Templeman gave out gifts in a random drawing! Pictured are some kids picking prizes. They did one drawing in the morning and one in the afternoon, drawing two names per class each time. We also did a drawing for the Jr/Sr High School, 5 students per grade and these students came to the office and picked a drink, chips and candy bars from the selection provided. All just for coming to school!

Remember the book Caps for Sale? Mrs. Whittington's Kindergarteners took to the drawing board to determine where the monkeys might have gone at the end of the story. What's your guess?

Mrs. Whittington's Kindergarten working on reading skills! We are writing down our thoughts about the story, working with subjects and predicates on the pocket chart, and then doing 'turn and talks' with our partner. #GrowingForTheFuture

The Readers to Leaders volunteers from Faith United Methodist Church in Coleman spent an afternoon last week training with Mrs. Linda Stachowiak in preparation for their work with Coleman Elementary School readers. We appreciate this dedicated group of volunteers who will be working with our students over the weeks of this school year to improve reading skills! Thank you!

Mr. Frisbee from the Chippewa Nature Center visited Mr. Liechty's 3rd grade class last week! What do you think they're learning about? 🤔

Another pic from Spirit Week! This is Mrs. Whittington's Kindergarten enjoying Hat Day. 👒🎩🧢

Mrs. Whittington's Kindergarten class enjoyed practicing their motor skills and creativity with an autumnal painting project!

How do our young Comets in Mr. Liechty's class exercise their brains during inside recess? By reaping the benefits of playing board games! They're learning collaboration, sportsmanship, practicing good winning/losing skills, critical thinking, and decision-making. Looks like a lot of fun! #growingforthefuture #LEADLikeAComet

5th grade teacher Ms. Boulis wanted to shout out Mr. Logan here for being a good leader by holding the door for Mr. Quintin as he walked past. We love to recognize these little victories! #LEADLikeAComet

Remember last week's post of the 6th graders harvesting thei produce they grew for Culinary class? Hot out of the oven, Culinary students made pizzas with homemade pizza sauce that was made with the tomatoes that came from that garden! They also practiced their knife skills and made homemade fries with the potatoes (not pictured). We love to see our students collaborating! #LEADLikeAComet #CultivatingCometConnections #growingforthefuture

4th graders recently went to the Ag Farm in Merrill, off of M-30. The students learned about the water cycle and the different layers of soil, how harvesting equipment works, bees and how honey is an important part of Michigan. Looks like they had a great time! #growingforthefuture

Students are practicing writing letters, identifying letters, and saying their corresponding sounds in Mrs. Young's class. They did 'A is for alligator' last week and the kids had a blast!

We love our WatchD.O.G.S. here at Coleman Elementary! Recently, we had Mr. Matt Sysak in Ms. Kendrick's Kindergarten class, Mr. Jason Germain in gym class with Mrs. Boulis's 5th grade class, and Mr. Sean Long with Mr. Booms's 4th grade class. Thank you for volunteering! Homecoming 2024

What does leadership look like at the elementary school? Some of the oldest students in the building recently helped one of the youngest students in the building by modeling good behavior. We're so proud of how our Comets collaborate! #LEADLikeAComet
