A story shared by Mrs. Young: I recently entered to win reading buddies for each of my students, and a $200 gift card to put towards my class library. I had to write about how reading buddies can be beneficial to our students, and how we could use them in our district. I just returned back to my classroom to 2 huge boxes FILLED with teddy bears! Turns out, I won! Each of my students will receive a reading buddy, and the rest will be donated. I also get to shop for $200 worth of new books to help diversify my library. I plan on using it for social emotional stories to use with my kiddos :) Congrats on your big win, Mrs. Young!

All month the elementary has been passing out I Spy a Leader tickets to students that have been showcasing the 7 habits of a good leader! Last week we drew names for our November leaders (you can see these students in the large group picture). The smaller pictures showcase some of our October rewards in action! So proud of all our Comets showing off their awesome leadership skills!

These are some of the posters that the elementary classes made to show their school what kindness looks like for the elementary school's week of kindness, which was sponsored by the NEHS students. Judges will decide which one is the best at getting the kindness message across and that class will win an ice cream sandwich party!

From Mrs. LeFevre: Last week during Kindness Week, NEHS members were getting ready to deliver apple cider and donut holes to all of the classrooms. It was a great opportunity for classes to have a snack together in celebration of Kindness Week and for the NEHS group to work together as a team.

Mrs. Lynch reports: The 6th grade used their Math classes last week to help the PTO with the Apple Pie and Scrip card orders! Students worked in teams to check orders, count money and tabulate totals with paper/pencil. Each order was then double checked for accuracy with a calculator. Students had to initial each order to prove they agreed with what was on the paper. Every year the Coleman Elementary PTO works hard to provide field trip bussing for all classrooms along with family events and end of year activities. PTO also pays for all 6th graders to attend Mystic Lake Camp.

Our 6th graders give back to elementary families every week from October to May! They pack over 60 bags of food, from EFPN in Midland, then deliver the bags to elementary classrooms. Then, they break down all of the cardboard cases for recycling. So proud of our Comets for taking on this awesome leadership opportunity!
